ACTIONS

In the UK, we partner with the National Health Service (NHS) and private healthcare providers to address scope 1&2 emissions through renewable energy deployment, power purchase agreements (PPAs), and improved buildings and estates efficiency. We also target scope 3 emissions related to procurement, including food sourcing.

Ways to Reduce Emissions

  • Our mission: to transition UK healthcare organisations to sustainable plant-centred catering that improves nutritional health, and aids climate change mitigation. More here

  • Switching to renewable energy in the UK could prevent up to 52,000 premature deaths by 2030 due to reduced air pollution. [Source]

The International Renewable Energy Agency found that the UK could cut its energy-related CO2 emissions 96% by 2050 if it fully transitions to renewable energy.

  • Retrofitting existing UK buildings could reduce carbon emissions in the built environment 36% by 2030. This would also prevent over 6,000 early deaths per year linked to cold homes and poor energy performance. An estimated £47 billion of lifetime savings would be generated, 4 times higher than the upfront investment needed. [Source]
